An empty trailer is arguably the “worst case scenario” because the cubic volume of warm air is at a maximum. Even in this case, the temperature at the rear of the trailer is approximately 10° F cooler than the same trailer without an FG Side Duct Air Chute.
A loaded trailer without an air chute(as in the case of SEFF) showed us that indirect interference from product or turbulence limited the full length circulation necessary to keep product at the proper temperature. 28.3 degrees is a large difference!
It should be noted that each test trailer was outfitted with a properly sized refrigeration unit. Our test results do not indicate inadequate refrigeration unit performance. In both cases it is important to remember that proper air circulation and temperature control is only possible if the method used is consistent and reliable.
